Diazoxide 2). Since it produces salt and water retentions, repeated injections of
(Injection) Diazoxide (Hyperstat) may cause edema and congestive heart failure.

3). The use of Diazoxide (Hyperstat) I.V. for longer than 10 days is not
                                                recommended.

                                                4). It produces transient hyperglycemia (increase in blood glucose);
therefore blood glucose levels should be carefully monitored in
                                                patients with diabetes.

5). It should only be administered via peripheral vein since the
alkalinity of solution may irritate the tissue if given via I.M. or S.C.

Drug Interactions with Hydralazine, Minoxidil and Diazoxide

Estrogen Estrogen induced fluid retention may antagonize the
antihypertensive action of Hydralazine, Minoxidil and Diazoxide.

Indomethacin Salt and water retention produced by Indomethacin may antagonize
the action of antihypertensive action of Hydralazine, Minoxidil and
                                                Diazoxide.

Sympathomimetic amine CNS stimulation produced by sympathomimetic amines may
antagonize the antihypertensive action of Hydralazine, Minoxidil
                                                and Diazoxide.

Coumadin Diazoxide (Hyperstat) may displace Warfarin (Coumadin) from the
protein binding site and increase the bleeding tendency.

Thiazide diuretics They may increase the risk of hyperuricemia and hyperglycemia
when simultaneously used with Diazoxide (Hyperstat).

Sulfonylurea Hyperglycemia produced by Diazoxide (Hyperstat) may reduce the
                                                effects of sulfonylurea.

Treprostinil a). Remodulin: 1). Treprostinil (Remodulin, Tyvaso) is a pulmonary and systematic
