Drug Interactions with Alpha-2 Adrenergic Receptor Agonists:

Indomethacin, Estrogen Fluid retention produced by these agents may antagonize the
anti-hypertensive effects of Alpha-2 agonists.

Appetite suppressant, CNS stimulation effects of these agents may antagonize the
Sympathomimetic amines antihypertensive effects of Alpha-2 agonists.

MAO inhibitors Severe hypertensive crisis may be reported with concurrent use
of Alpha-2 agonists with MAO inhibitors.

Haloperidol Concurrent use may potentiate the antipsychotic effects of
Haloperidol.

Levodopa Concurrent use may decrease the antiparkinson’s effects of
Levodopa.

Lithium Concurrent use may increase the Lithium toxicities with side
effects such as polyuria, lethargy, tremor and muscular
weakness.

Fenfluramine Concurrent use may increase the CNS depression effects of
Alpha-2 agonists.
