Acebutolol = Sectral Penbutolol = Levatol
Carvedilol = Coreg, Coreg CR
M/A: They block beta receptors in cardiac tissues. They reduce the myocardial oxygen requirements
by decreasing the heart rate and the force of contraction associated with exercise.
Dose Special Notes
Atenolol 50 to 100 mg PO 1). Atenolol (Tenormin) is indicated for the treatment of hypertension,
(Tablet) daily. angina pectoris and acute myocardial infarction.
(Injection)
2). Atenolol, Acebutolol, Betaxolol, Bisoprolol, Metoprolol, Esmolol and
2 2
Nebivolol (A B MEN) are cardio selective beta blockers.
Metoprolol 100 to 400 mg 1). Metoprolol (Lopressor) is indicated for the treatment of
(Tablet) PO daily in hypertension, angina pectoris and acute myocardial infarction.
(Tablet, ER) single or divided
(Injection) doses. 2). It generally produces severe bradycardia by decreasing sinus heart
rate and slowing down AV node conduction.
Acebutolol 400 mg to 800 1). Acebutolol (Sectral) is indicated for the treatment of hypertension,
(Capsule) mg per day. and ventricular arrhythmia.
Bisoprolol 5 to 20 mg PO 1). Bisoprolol (Zebeta) is indicated for the treatment of hypertension.
(Tablet) daily.
Nebivolol 5 to 40 mg once 1). Nebivolol (Bystolic) is indicated for the treatment of hypertension.
(Tablet) daily with or
without food.
Esmolol 0.1 -0.2 mg 1). Esmolol (Brevibloc) is indicated for the treatment of supraventricular
(Injection) /kg/min tachycardia, intraoperative and postoperative tachycardia and/or
hypertension.
