Customs regulations and fees are outside the control of the U.S. Postal Service. For country-specific details, you or the recipient should contact the local customs office directly.
All items entering a foreign country are subject to customs inspection and may be assessed duties, taxes, and fees according to that country’s laws. Whether charges apply usually depends on the item and the value thresholds established by the destination country.
Customs duties, taxes, and other fees assessed by the destination country cannot be paid to the Postal Service at the time of mailing. These charges are typically collected from the recipient when the shipment arrives.
Postage charges cover delivery costs only. They do not include customs duties, import taxes, or other charges assessed by the destination country.
